A New Year!

Obviously, I've been exceeding lax with my blogging for, well, the ENTIRE last 9 or so months, but its snowing and blowing this morning, and I have a day off, so I'll try to do a quick recap and I will try to stay more current!
The 2013 season ended with a pretty good bang, with Summer Peterson finishing her first CCI* at Galway in the top 10, and winning the Smartpak Training Three-Day award on Jake. Prior to Galway, we took 4 horses to the American Eventing Championships in Texas, where Grace finished 2nd on Luke, and we took a whole slew of horses, adults, kids, and mom's (and one lone dad) to Coconino for 10 days. We also traveled to Windy Wyoming, Colorado Horse Park three times, Galway in the spring, and took the two hour trip down the road to Golden Spike.
I didn't have much to event this year as my young thoroughbred, Luke, was just starting to get his feet wet eventing in the fall, but I did do a whole lot of dressage showing with Cha Cha. I earned my USDF Bronze medal, and took my first trip to Regional Championships.
In perhaps the biggest 2013 development, I have taken over a dressage business, in addition to the eventing. I'm really enjoying the variety, and I love all the people and horses, so we are pressing on to 2014! This year holds a whole lot of eventing, with a number of new students joining the Thunder Mountain group. I've got a handful of young horses to compete, and I can't wait to get back into it! We also will be going to a lot of dressage shows, both in and out of state, and I'd really love to get a whole group qualified for Regional Championships this year.
There will continue to be lots of educational opportunities offered at the Kimball Ranch, both eventing and dressage, and as busy as the upcoming season is shaping up to be, I find myself looking forward every day to the new challenges, new faces, and new opportunities 2014 will bring!
